Its aim is to offer accessible content presenting the main issues on this question, to take stock of what we know today about the environmental impact of AI and to suggest good practices to users.
Its educational objectives are as follows:
- To place questions about the environmental impact of AI back within those about the environmental impact of digital technology in the broad sense;
- To take stock of the available studies on the environmental impact of AI;
- To look back at the possible contributions of AI to the ecological transition, but also at the possible rebound effects and underlying energy issues;
- To summarise the available deliverables and recall the players involved as well as the powers of the competent authorities;
- To give readers keys to guide them towards a more frugal use of AI
