Films for children

The association “Film pour enfants” has the twofold aim of offering, in an educational context, free access to auteur animation cinema for all children, and of setting up a lasting economic model for quality short films that do not fit into conventional distribution schemes. The association starts from the observation that children have little choice over what they watch, while many short films, a genuine alternative to the standardisation of audiovisual offerings, remain little known; its catalogue focuses on humanism, ecology and poetry, and aims to become a tool for raising awareness and awakening artistic sensibility.

In support of cultural democratisation, a free, advert-free web portal makes it possible to watch 350 short films within the family setting.
A portal, in the form of a paid subscription, allows educational and cultural institutions to use the films offline and ensures the film rights holders are remunerated.
For September 2019, in partnership with the Ministry of National Education and Réseau Canopé, the association is developing a platform for education about and through the animated image.
This new tool will address, with a concern for cross-curricularity, the other learning areas (living world, history-geography, citizenship…), and, with a concern for transmediality, the different modes of expression (literature, painting, music…).
Simple and intuitive, it will allow teachers to design, plan and above all personalise teaching sequences. A list of films accompanied by activities will be offered according to the pupils’ school level, the teaching objectives, the lesson theme, and the knowledge and skills targeted. Links to literary, pictorial or musical works and to other online educational platforms will provide variations or extensions for the class.
