The Game of 3 Figures: the expertise of the European School of Strasbourg honoured in Europe

At the annual training of the heads of the European Schools network (Schola Europaea), held in Varese, Yannick Müller, head of the nursery and primary cycles at the European School of Strasbourg, presented an ambitious programme aimed at preventing bullying and defusing violent conflicts between pupils.

This scheme rests on a comprehensive approach structured around three complementary strands:
• ACT, in line with the French national education system’s pHARe protocol;
• PREVENT, stopping ordinary tensions from escalating thanks to mediation tools such as the clear message and restorative practices;
• EDUCATE for empathy, through the Game of 3 Figures (J3F).

Since the start of the 2024 school year, the European School of Strasbourg has been committed to the gradual training of its entire primary teaching team in the Game of 3 Figures. For the second year running, this training is provided by the association DPJ3F, for both primary and lower secondary, demonstrating a lasting commitment to developing pupils’ psychosocial skills.

European visibility at the Teachers’ Forum in Riga

On 14 April 2026, two teachers trained in the J3F last year will present the primary protocol in more detail at the European Schools Teachers’ Forum (TFES 2026), held in Riga. For three years, the country holding the presidency of the European Schools network has offered two days of exchanges devoted to sharing innovative teaching practices. Teachers in the network can run workshops there, while each school can send representatives to discover initiatives carried out elsewhere in Europe.

This year, one of the major themes is pupil well-being, in what the Latvians call pastoral care: an educational approach aimed at strengthening psychosocial and relational skills.

For 75 minutes, the trio from the European School of Strasbourg will present the Game of 3 Figures to an audience of teachers from the 27 countries of the European Union. After a theoretical introduction by Yannick Müller, the two teachers will invite participants to experience two typical sessions: one following the primary protocol, the other the lower secondary protocol, so that their methods and effects can be compared.

The presentation, in English, will illustrate the great adaptability of the scheme, already implemented in Strasbourg in French, English and German depending on pupils’ language section. The protocols have indeed been translated by the teachers of the English-speaking and German-speaking sections. Video extracts of sessions with pupils will complete this concrete and immersive presentation.
